ANALYSIS OF OVERESTIMATION IN HISTORICAL ICE FLOW VELOCITY MAPS IN WESTERN PACIFIC OCEAN SECTOR, ANTARCTICA

Abstract. High accuracy reconstruction of historical ice flow velocity fields is crucial in mass balance research the Antarctic Ice Sheet by utilizing input-output approach. A Western Pacific Ocean sector region East Antarctica from 1963 to 1989 was mapped and then corrected for its overestimation. In this study, we analyzed spatial distribution values, further assessed relationship between values related factors including timespan image pairs, velocity, acceleration surface slope. The results indicate that points are mostly dispersed a buffer 25 km upstream downstream grounding line, with largest mean value emerging line downstream. exhibit linear correlation three conditions: 1) when range 0 – 1586 m/y, 2) 69 (m/y)/km, 3) slope 1.95 degrees R2 higher than 0.7.
